The Springboro City Council will review and be asked to adopt the Springboro Master Plan at its meeting Thursday, February 17, 2022. Representatives from MKSK will make a virtual presentation on the plan at the Council Work Session that begins at 6 p.m. in Council Chambers in the City Building located at 320 West Central Avenue. A Resolution to adopt the plan is on the agenda for the City Council meeting that begins at 7 p.m. The Master Plan will be used by City Council, Planning Commission, and City staff to make long-range development and redevelopment decisions. The plan would replace the current plan that was adopted in 2009. A copy of the February 3, 2022 draft of the plan may be found at the project website here.
Work on the Springboro Master Plan has been underway since Summer 2020. A Steering Committee was created to guide the plan’s development in September 2020 and began meeting in October 2020. The City secured the services of a consulting team led by MKSK to assist in the plan’s development. Work on the plan continued through the pandemic, with the Steering Committee meeting in person and virtually, through two rounds of open houses and with the input from surveys. At its meeting on December 14, 2020 the Steering Committee approved a motion to recommend that the City adopt the plan with a number of revisions recommended based on feedback from public comments received at an open house held on December 7 as well as comments posted to the project web site.
At its meeting on January 19, the Springboro Planning Commission approved a motion to adopt the plan, incorporating a number of amendments recommended by Planning Commission members and City staff.
