Springboro opens Art Gallery in Performing Arts Center

The City of Springboro’s newest addition to the Performing Arts Center (PAC) is an Art Gallery, located in the center’s lobby, 115 Wright Station Way. The first show, just installed, features Springboro artists showcasing a variety of mediums including oil and acrylic paintings along with photography.


The month-long exhibit may be viewed 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Friday. In addition, the PAC will be open during the Springboro Community Theatre weekend performances: 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Jan. 10, 11, 17, and 18, and 1 – 4 p.m. Sundays, Jan. 12 and 19.


The City will host a reception 6 – 7 p.m. Monday, January 13, in the gallery to introduce the collection to the community. Artists exhibiting in the show include:


Patty Clark teaches oil painting at Middletown Art Center. Her work has been accepted in several juried shows including the Miamisburg Art Guild and the Middletown Art Center. A selection of her work is on permanent display at the Pendleton Art Center in Middletown. She has a BS in Applied Science with a concentration in Interior Design from Miami University.

 

Barbara Files paints in acrylics. The 50-year resident of Springboro is a member of the Miamisburg Art Gallery. Having started Springboro Preschool Discovery in 1974, she paints pictures of children as well as landscapes, birds, and animals. She has exhibited in restaurants, medical facilities and government buildings in the area.


Shawna Hatton is an award-winning painter and fine art photographer. In addition to private classes, she teaches at the Dayton Art Institute and Middletown Art Center. Her work is in private collections. Hatton has a BFA from Saint Mary College of Notre Dame. Follow her on Instagram at KiwiCreatives.


State of the Art Photography by Ron Lee has been exhibited at the Louvre in Paris and the Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago. Lee is known as a Master Printer of fine art silver gelatin black and white photography and holds a patent for his invention “photographic leather.” His work also includes wearable art and jewelry. John Lehman has been painting for more than 30 years. An award-winning artist, his works have been on exhibit from London to America’s west coast. Using oils, graphite, pastel and charcoal, his works include landscapes, still life and portraitures. “The Irish Village” on display here, has won several prizes. 


Kim Loesche is the owner and artist at Eve’s Ink Tattoo. Her grandmother was a watercolor artist and taught Kim to paint when she was a child. Kim has been painting and drawing ever since. Kim’s father was an architect and she spent years going to work with him and drawing while he worked on his plans. She continues to express herself through art in paintings and tattoos. Owned and operated by the City of Springboro, the Springboro Performing Arts Center opened in September 2019. It is home to the Springboro Chamber of Commerce, Springboro Community Theatre and Center Stage Academy of the Arts.
