COVID-19 Business Grant Program

Applications reviewed as received, due no later than Oct. 31, 2020

COVID-19 and restrictions related to this pandemic have made an unprecedented impact on our business community. The City of Springboro wants to help provide economic support by sharing funds from our CARES Act grant to our businesses in an effort to help create jobs and expand businesses affected by the coronavirus.

The City has created an Employer Grant Program to help absorb costs associated with the hiring of new employees—for the expansion of business needs due to new COVID demands—and/or the rehiring of former employees whose jobs were cut because of the pandemic. The maximum amount to request is $20,000 and this program is for just for the businesses within the City of Springboro.

The grant can be used to assist with on-boarding, training and/or soft costs associated with recruitment of new staff members or rehiring staff let go because of the pandemic.

Complete the application and return it to Greg Shackelford, no later than October 31, 2020. A committee of City staff will review applications as they are submitted. So, the sooner you apply, the quicker your application will be reviewed and a decision made. Applications will be reviewed until all funds are distributed.

If you are awarded funding, your business must use the disbursement for the hiring, rehiring, on-boarding or training of the employee(s) as stated in the application, including providing the required documentation.

Grant funds are potentially taxable, per the IRS. Grant recipients should talk with their tax professionals.
